Linux/390 Support AnnouncementSeptember 23, 2001:
The Tachyon Assembler Workbench provides programmers with a fast, complete, easy-to-use development environment for S/390 and z/Architecture programs targeted to run on OS/390, z/OS, VM, VSE, TPF, Linux for S/390 and zSeries. The Tachyon Assembler Workbench includes an assembler, a linker, file transfer tools, a z/OS emulator and assembler debugger. Versions of the Tachyon Assembler Workbench are now available for Linux for S/390 and zSeries, including the Tachyon z/Assembler and Tachyon File Tools. With the Tachyon z/Assembler, programmers can assemble programs on Linux/390 for any mainframe operating system without sacrificing any of the HLASM features they need. With Tachyon File Tools, programmers can build OS/390 load modules on Linux/390 that are ready to install and execute. The Tachyon z/Assembler has been further enhanced to build ELF object file that can be linked and run on Linux for S/390 and zSeries. Now, not only can the full power of the traditional mainframe assembly language be used for Linux/390 programs, but also the gas language produced by the free GCC compiler can be assembled using the Tachyon z/Assembler. If you dont yet have a copy of the Tachyon Assembler Workbench, you can download a
demonstration copy and try it for yourself.
